Xbetar (Artither 150 mg Injection) is an antimalarial medicine used for the treatment of uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum and other malaria parasites. It contains Artesunate, which works by producing free radicals inside the parasite-infected red blood cells, ultimately destroying the malaria parasite and helping in faster recovery.This medicine is typically administered intramuscularly or intravenously by a doctor or nurse in a clinical setting. It is not intended for self-administration and should only be used under strict medical supervision. Xbetar is not meant for malaria prevention (prophylaxis) and is not suitable for severe or complicated cases of malaria, for which alternative treatment protocols are recommended.
Patients receiving Xbetar should avoid taking antacids or other medications simultaneously unless specifically advised by a healthcare provider, as they may interfere with the absorption or effectiveness of the injection. It is important to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if symptoms improve early, to ensure the complete clearance of the parasite from the body and to avoid resistance.
