XMOnate-CLAV is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 28.5 mg, designed to combat infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, including certain forms of multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis. In MDR-TB, the tuberculosis-causing bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase, which breaks down beta-lactam antibiotics like amoxycillin, rendering them ineffective.Clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, plays a critical role in this combination by blocking the activity of the beta-lactamase enzyme. This allows amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin-type antibiotic, to reach and destroy the bacteria effectively. Amoxycillin interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell rupture and bacterial death.
Together, these two ingredients work synergistically to overcome bacterial resistance and make the antibiotic treatment effective again. XMOnate-CLAV is particularly useful in the management of resistant TB strains, especially when included in a broader anti-tuberculosis regimen under medical supervision.
It is important that this syrup is taken strictly as prescribed by a physician. Inappropriate or incomplete use may lead to treatment failure or further resistance. Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, or rash. Patients should complete the full course of therapy and report any severe or unusual symptoms to their healthcare provider promptly.
