Description & Effects
VEfix-CV Tablet is a combination antibiotic medication containing Cefixime 200mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, particularly those affecting the respiratory tract, urinary tract, ears, sinuses, throat, and skin. Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall, thereby killing the bacteria. However, some bacteria produce enzymes (beta-lactamases) that can destroy antibiotics like Cefixime. To counter this, Clavulanic Acid is included as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, which protects Cefixime from being broken down and enhances its effectiveness. This combination is especially helpful in treating infections caused by resistant strains of bacteria. VEfix-CV should be taken as prescribed by a doctor, usually once or twice daily depending on the severity of the infection. It can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce the risk of stomach upset.
Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, or rash. It is important to complete the full course of this medication even if you start to feel better, to ensure that the infection is completely cleared and to prevent resistance. Do not self-medicate or discontinue use without consulting your healthcare provider.
