VASIzime-CV is a combination antibiotic medicine containing Cefuroxime 500 mg and Clavulanate Potassium 125 mg. This fixed-dose combination is designed to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections by targeting both susceptible and resistant bacterial strains.Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, thereby killing the bacteria. However, some bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase that can inactivate cefuroxime. To overcome this, Clavulanate Potassium is added as a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It blocks these enzymes, enhancing the effectiveness of cefuroxime even against resistant bacteria.
VASIzime-CV is commonly prescribed to treat infections such as respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis), urinary tract infections, ear and throat infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted diseases. It is typically taken twice a day, with or after meals, to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset.
Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and headache. In rare cases, allergic reactions or severe gastrointestinal disturbances may occur. Patients with known allergies to penicillins or cephalosporins should avoid this medicine. It’s essential to complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve early, to prevent bacterial resistance and ensure full recovery.
