Tivpod-CV is a combination pediatric formulation containing Cefpodoxime 50 mg and Clavulanic Acid 31.25 mg per 5 ml, designed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children. It is commonly used for respiratory tract infections such as sore throat, tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia, as well as urinary tract infections (UTIs), ear infections (otitis media), and skin or soft tissue infections.Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, ultimately leading to the destruction of the bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that enhances the effectiveness of Cefpodoxime by preventing bacterial resistance mechanisms that would otherwise degrade the antibiotic. Together, they form a powerful combination that is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
This formulation is available in dry syrup form and should be reconstituted with water as per the instructions on the label. It is typically administered twice daily after meals to enhance absorption and minimize stomach upset.
Common side effects may include mild gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain.
