Tivatel-H is a combination medication that contains Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). This combination helps lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine used alone, thereby reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney problems, and other cardiovascular complications.Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by relaxing the blood vessels through blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict. As a result, blood flows more easily, and the heart can pump more efficiently.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps lower blood pressure by removing excess salt and water from the body through increased urine production. This reduces blood volume, which helps lower blood pressure and decreases the workload on the heart.
Together, Tivatel-H offers dual-action blood pressure control by reducing fluid overload and relaxing blood vessels. It is especially beneficial in patients who have not achieved adequate blood pressure control with Telmisartan alone or who require additional fluid reduction.
This medication should be taken under the guidance of a doctor, usually once daily. Monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels is important during treatment.
