Tivatel-A is a combination medication containing Telmisartan and Amlodipine, two antihypertensive agents that work synergistically to effectively control high blood pressure (hypertension) and reduce the risk of associated cardiovascular complications such as heart attacks, strokes, and kidney damage.Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a natural substance in the body that causes blood vessels to narrow and increase blood pressure. By inhibiting this effect, Telmisartan allows the blood vessels to relax and widen, making it easier for the heart to pump blood.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB) that helps relax and widen blood vessels by preventing calcium from entering the smooth muscles of the heart and arteries. This action further contributes to lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow.
Together, Tivatel-A helps reduce resistance in the blood vessels, improves the heart’s pumping efficiency, and maintains optimal blood pressure levels over the long term. It is particularly useful in patients who require combination therapy for better blood pressure control or have not responded adequately to monotherapy.
This medicine should be taken as prescribed by a doctor, usually once daily. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels is recommended. Possible side effects may include dizziness, swelling of ankles, fatigue, headache, or palpitations.
