TEEPRIFA-400 contains Rifaximin 400 mg, an oral antibiotic used mainly to treat infections in the gastrointestinal tract. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria and is especially useful for treating traveler’s diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D), and for preventing the recurrence of hepatic encephalopathy in patients with liver disease. Since Rifaximin is poorly absorbed from the intestine, its effects are mostly localized in the gut, which helps reduce side effects while ensuring effective action against harmful bacteria.Rifaximin targets bacterial RNA synthesis, preventing bacteria from multiplying. It is particularly effective against E. coli, the most common cause of traveler’s diarrhea. It may also help restore the natural balance of gut bacteria, offering relief from bloating and discomfort in IBS-D.
TEEPRIFA-400 is usually well-tolerated. Common side effects may include nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain, and headache. Because it does not enter the bloodstream in large amounts, the risk of systemic side effects is low.
