Tamfev-100 contains Iron Sucrose, a commonly used intravenous iron preparation for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia, particularly in patients who cannot tolerate oral iron supplements or have not responded adequately to them.Iron is an essential mineral necessary for the production of hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying component of red blood cells. A deficiency in iron leads to a reduction in red blood cell production, resulting in anemia, which can cause symptoms like fatigue, weakness, pale skin, dizziness, and shortness of breath.
Iron Sucrose works by replenishing the depleted iron stores in the body, thereby enabling the bone marrow to increase the production of red blood cells and hemoglobin. It is especially effective in patients with chronic kidney disease, those on dialysis, or in situations where rapid correction of anemia is required.
The medicine is administered via slow intravenous injection or infusion, under medical supervision. It usually begins to improve hemoglobin levels within a few weeks of treatment.
Although generally well-tolerated, some patients may experience side effects like injection site reactions, hypotension, nausea, muscle cramps, or headache. It’s important to use this medication strictly under medical guidance and to monitor iron levels regularly during treatment.
