Silvgalin-NT is a combination medication containing Pregabalin and Nortriptyline, designed to effectively manage neuropathic pain—a chronic pain condition caused by nerve damage due to diabetes, shingles, spinal cord injury, or other neurological disorders.Pregabalin is classified as an alpha-2-delta ligand. It works by binding to specific calcium channels on nerve cells, thereby reducing the release of pain-related neurotransmitters and calming overactive nerve signals. This leads to a decrease in the intensity of nerve pain, as well as relief from symptoms like burning, tingling, or shooting sensations.
Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) that enhances the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain and spinal cord. These neurotransmitters play a crucial role in modulating pain perception. By increasing their levels, Nortriptyline helps block the transmission of pain signals and also improves associated symptoms such as sleep disturbances, low mood, and anxiety that often accompany chronic pain.
Together, Pregabalin and Nortriptyline in Silvgalin-NT provide a synergistic effect for managing chronic nerve pain, especially when single-drug therapy is insufficient.
