SAIUmet-L-1000 is a combination medication used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains two active ingredients: Metformin (1000 mg) and Linagliptin, which work synergistically to control high blood sugar levels in adults, especially those who do not achieve adequate control with Metformin alone.Metformin belongs to the biguanide class and is the first-line therapy for type 2 diabetes. It works by decreasing glucose production in the liver, enhancing insulin sensitivity, and improving glucose uptake by body tissues. It does not cause weight gain and is known to improve lipid profiles and insulin resistance.
Linagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor).
