Safydox-100 is a dry syrup formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil 100 mg, a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the third-generation cephalosporin class. It is primarily used in children to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Safydox-100 works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, an essential component for bacterial survival. This action weakens and destroys the bacteria, effectively clearing the infection from the body.This medication is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis, as well as ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, throat infections like tonsillitis and pharyngitis, and certain skin and soft tissue infections. It provides relief from symptoms and improves the child’s condition within a few days of starting treatment.
Safydox-100 should be reconstituted with clean water as per the instructions and given with food to improve absorption. It is important to complete the full course of the antibiotic, even if the child starts feeling better, to ensure complete eradication of the infection and prevent antibiotic resistance.
Common side effects may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, or skin rash. Although rare, serious allergic reactions may occur. This medicine should always be used under the supervision of a pediatrician or qualified healthcare professional.
