SILpan-D is a combination medicine used for the effective treatment of acid-related disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and functional dyspepsia. It contains Domperidone, a prokinetic agent, and Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), which together provide dual-action relief from both acid overproduction and delayed gastric emptying.Domperidone works by enhancing the movement of the stomach and intestines. It improves the forward movement of food through the digestive tract and prevents the backward flow of stomach contents into the esophagus. This helps relieve symptoms like bloating, nausea, and a heavy feeling in the stomach after eating.
Pantoprazole, on the other hand, works by blocking the acid-producing pumps in the stomach lining, thereby reducing the amount of acid produced. This action provides relief from burning sensations in the chest, sour taste in the mouth, and stomach irritation caused by excessive acid.
SILpan-D is usually taken once daily before meals, preferably in the morning. It should be taken as prescribed by the doctor, and the full course should not be discontinued without medical advice.
While generally well tolerated, some mild side effects may include dry mouth, dizziness, headache, or abdominal discomfort. Long-term use should be monitored, especially in individuals with a history of nutrient deficiencies or gastrointestinal issues. Always use under medical supervision for best results.
