SAFYdox contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It is effective against infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, throat, ears, and sinuses. It may also be used in some cases of sexually transmitted infections and pneumonia.Cefpodoxime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It targets specific proteins essential for building the bacterial cell wall, which is crucial for the bacteria’s survival and replication. By disrupting this process, Cefpodoxime causes the death of the bacterial cells, thereby eliminating the infection.
SAFYdox is generally well-tolerated and is available in both tablet and suspension forms. It is typically taken twice daily with food to enhance absorption. It is important to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if symptoms improve earlier, to prevent antibiotic resistance and recurrence of infection.
Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, headache, or rash. In rare cases, allergic reactions or severe intestinal conditions (e.g., C. difficile-associated diarrhea) may occur. This medicine should be used only under medical advice, particularly in patients with kidney problems or known allergies to penicillin or cephalosporins.
