Penitra-IT-200 is a powerful antifungal formulation that combines Terbinafine Hydrochloride (equivalent to Terbinafine 250 mg) and Itraconazole 200 mg. These two active ingredients work synergistically to treat a wide range of stubborn and resistant fungal infections affecting the skin, nails, and mucous membranes.Terbinafine is an allylamine antifungal that works by inhibiting squalene epoxidase, an enzyme essential for fungal cell membrane synthesis. This leads to the accumulation of toxic substances within the fungus and causes cell death. Itraconazole, a triazole antifungal, blocks the formation of ergosterol—a key component of fungal cell membranes—thus compromising fungal cell integrity and preventing its growth.
This dual-action therapy offers broad-spectrum coverage and is especially effective in treating dermatophytosis, onychomycosis (nail infections), candidiasis, and systemic fungal infections that are difficult to manage with single-drug treatment.
Penitra-IT-200 is administered orally and is usually recommended after meals to enhance absorption. The dosage and duration depend on the severity and location of the infection. Patients should complete the full course as prescribed to avoid recurrence or resistance.
Common side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, or skin rash. Liver function monitoring may be required during extended use. Always take under medical supervision.
