PEPnil-LS is a combination medicine containing Levosulpiride and Pantoprazole, primarily used for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders such as acid reflux, indigestion, bloating, gastritis, and functional dyspepsia. This dual-action formula targets both the excessive production of stomach acid and the impaired movement of the digestive tract.Levosulpiride is a prokinetic agent that enhances the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that increases the motility of the stomach and intestines. This action helps in faster gastric emptying and reduces symptoms like bloating, fullness, and nausea. It also helps prevent acid reflux by improving the tone of the lower esophageal sphincter, which stops acid from flowing back into the food pipe.
Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), reduces the production of gastric acid by blocking the acid-secreting enzymes in the stomach lining. This helps in the healing of acid-induced inflammation and ulcers, providing long-term relief from heartburn and hyperacidity.
PEPnil-LS should be taken before meals, usually once daily or as prescribed. While generally well-tolerated, possible side effects include headache, dizziness, diarrhea, or constipation. Long-term use should be monitored by a doctor, especially in elderly patients or those with chronic conditions. Always use under medical supervision.
