Domperidone + Pantoprazole is a combination medicine used to treat acid-related disorders such as acid reflux, indigestion, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and gastritis. This formulation provides relief by addressing both the acid production in the stomach and the movement of food through the digestive tract.Domperidone is a prokinetic agent that enhances the movement of the stomach and intestines. It works by increasing the contractions of the upper digestive tract muscles, helping food pass more easily from the stomach into the intestines, thereby reducing bloating, nausea, and the feeling of fullness.
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that lowers the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is effective in reducing heartburn, protecting the esophagus lining from acid irritation, and helping in the healing of acid damage to the stomach and esophagus.
This combination is particularly beneficial for patients who experience acid reflux symptoms accompanied by slow gastric emptying. It is usually taken before meals for better efficacy. While it is generally well tolerated, possible side effects may include headache, dizziness, diarrhea, dry mouth, and abdominal pain.
