Description & Effects
PANTOLEX-CP is an intravenous (IV) formulation of Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is administered in situations where oral treatment is not possible, such as in patients who are critically ill, unable to swallow, or undergoing surgery. This injection is commonly used in the treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) with erosive esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and other hypersecretory conditions. Pantoprazole works by blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining, thereby reducing acid secretion and relieving symptoms like heartburn, indigestion, and acid reflux.
Pantolex-CP is available as a powder that must be reconstituted with sterile liquid before administration. It is given intravenously by a trained healthcare professional in a hospital or clinical setting. For GERD, the typical dose is administered once daily for 7 to 10 days. For conditions involving excessive stomach acid production, it may be given every 8 to 12 hours, depending on medical need and response to treatment.
Common side effects may include headache, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, or injection site reactions. Long-term use should be monitored due to the risk of nutrient deficiencies and other complications.
Always use Pantolex-CP under the supervision of a qualified medical professional.
