OSANtan-10C is a combination of Olmesartan Medoxomil 20mg and Cilnidipine 10mg, used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). This dual-drug formulation works synergistically to control blood pressure effectively when monotherapy is insufficient. Olmesartan belongs to the class of angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) that helps relax blood vessels by blocking the action of a substance that causes blood vessels to tighten, thereby lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow. Cilnidipine is a unique calcium channel blocker that inhibits both L-type and N-type calcium channels. It relaxes the blood vessels, reduces peripheral resistance, and also suppresses excess sympathetic nerve activity, which further aids in blood pressure control.Together, this combination provides a balanced and comprehensive approach to managing hypertension, reducing the risk of complications such as heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems. Cilnidipine is also known for causing less ankle swelling compared to other calcium channel blockers like amlodipine, making it better tolerated in some patients. OSANtan-10C is generally taken once a day, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, flushing, or mild swelling. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels is advised during the treatment.
