OFET-PLUS is a powerful topical combination medication used to treat mixed bacterial and fungal skin infections, along with associated inflammation, redness, and itching. It contains four active ingredients: Ofloxacin, Ornidazole, Itraconazole, and Clobetasol, each playing a specific role in comprehensive infection control.Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial enzymes needed for DNA replication, thereby stopping bacterial growth. Ornidazole, another antimicrobial agent, kills harmful bacteria and protozoa by disrupting their DNA structure and function, making the combination effective against a wide range of pathogens.
Itraconazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal that targets fungal cell membranes, disrupting their integrity and preventing the fungi from growing and reproducing. This helps in effectively clearing fungal infections from the skin. Clobetasol is a potent corticosteroid that works by blocking the action of certain chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, thereby reducing redness, swelling, and itching.
OFET-PLUS is commonly prescribed for skin infections such as tinea, dermatophytosis, eczema with secondary infection, or mixed fungal and bacterial infections. Use it only as directed by a physician. Overuse or misuse can lead to resistance or side effects like thinning of the skin, irritation, or worsening of the condition. Always apply a thin layer and avoid covering the treated area unless instructed.
