OFET-M is a combination medication containing Ofloxacin and Metronidazole, used to effectively treat a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections, especially those related to the gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary system, and certain gynecological conditions.Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that works by interfering with the bacterial DNA replication process. It prevents bacteria from dividing and repairing themselves, ultimately leading to their death. This makes it effective against a broad spectrum of aerobic Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Metronidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibiotic agent, particularly active against anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites. It works by entering the microorganisms and disrupting their DNA, causing cell death and stopping the infection from spreading.
Together, the combination provides a powerful dual-action mechanism: Ofloxacin targets aerobic bacteria, while Metronidazole covers anaerobic organisms and parasites.
