LETIX-C is a combination antibiotic medication containing Cefixime and Clavulanic Acid, used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. This formulation is especially effective in managing infections of the respiratory tract (such as bronchitis, tonsillitis, and sinusitis), urinary tract, ear, throat, and skin.Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which is vital for bacterial survival. This leads to the breakdown and death of the bacteria. However, some bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases that can inactivate antibiotics like Cefixime.
To overcome this, Clavulanic Acid is included. It is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that blocks these enzymes and enhances the effectiveness of Cefixime against resistant bacterial strains, ensuring a broader and more reliable antibacterial action.
