INDOZID TZ is a powerful combination antibiotic that contains Ceftazidime, a third-generation cephalosporin, and Tazobactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. This synergistic combination is used for the treatment of moderate to severe bacterial infections caused by resistant strains of bacteria. It is particularly effective against infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, abdominal cavity, skin and soft tissues, and blood (septicemia). It is also used to treat infections in immunocompromised patients, such as those with cancer or undergoing surgery.Ceftazidime works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, leading to the destruction of bacteria. However, some bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that can break down ceftazidime and render it ineffective. Tazobactam combats this by blocking the beta-lactamase enzymes, thereby restoring and enhancing the effectiveness of Ceftazidime against resistant bacterial strains.
INDOZID TZ is administered intravenously or intramuscularly under medical supervision. Dosage and duration depend on the severity and type of infection, as well as the patient’s overall health and kidney function.
Possible side effects include nausea, injection site reactions, diarrhea, or allergic responses. It is essential to complete the full course of treatment to prevent resistance and recurrence of infection. Always use this medication under a doctor’s guidance.
