IDEzovir-L is a combination topical formulation primarily used for the treatment of non-severe herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections affecting the skin and mucous membranes, such as cold sores (herpes labialis) and genital herpes. It combines two active ingredients: Acyclovir, an antiviral agent that stops the herpes virus from multiplying, and Lidocaine, a local anesthetic that provides rapid pain relief.This dual-action formula is designed to both treat the underlying viral infection and relieve discomfort associated with symptoms like burning, itching, tingling, and pain. Acyclovir interferes with the replication of viral DNA, helping to reduce the duration and severity of outbreaks. Lidocaine temporarily numbs the affected area, providing quick symptomatic relief and making the healing process more comfortable.
IDEzovir-L is most effective when applied at the first sign of symptoms. The cream should be applied gently to the affected area using clean hands, typically 3–5 times a day or as directed by a physician. Side effects are generally mild and localized, such as slight irritation or a stinging sensation at the application site.
