Description & Effects
Fluzeet-IV is a sterile intravenous antifungal solution containing Fluconazole 200 mg infused in 0.9% Sodium Chloride. It is used to treat serious fungal and yeast infections in patients who cannot take oral medications. Fluconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes, thereby weakening and killing the fungi.Fluzeet-IV is especially effective in treating systemic infections such as candidemia, cryptococcal meningitis, esophageal and oropharyngeal candidiasis, and other fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, including those undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplants, or living with HIV/AIDS. It may also be used prophylactically to prevent fungal infections in high-risk individuals.
Administered by slow intravenous infusion, the dosage and duration depend on the type and severity of the infection as well as the patient’s renal function and overall condition. The addition of 0.9% Sodium Chloride helps maintain fluid balance and provides a compatible medium for IV administration.
Fluzeet-IV is generally well tolerated but may cause side effects such as nausea, headache, rash, elevated liver enzymes, or allergic reactions. In rare cases, serious effects like hepatotoxicity or arrhythmia may occur. It should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional with proper monitoring.
