CLIVER-CV is a potent antibiotic formulation that combines Cefpodoxime Proxetil and Clavulanic Acid to offer broad-spectrum antibacterial coverage. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, ultimately leading to the death of the bacteria. However, some bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that can inactivate Cefpodoxime, making it less effective. This is where Clavulanic Acid plays a crucial role.Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that works by blocking these enzymes, thereby preventing the degradation of Cefpodoxime. This combination enhances the antibiotic's ability to combat resistant bacterial strains and increases its efficacy in treating infections.
CLIVER-CV is commonly prescribed for the treatment of respiratory tract infections (such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and ear infections.
