CEFAM-CV 500 is a powerful combination of Cefuroxime (500 mg) and Clavulanic Acid, designed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including those caused by antibiotic-resistant strains. This dual-action formulation offers enhanced efficacy in treating infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, soft tissues, and sinuses, as well as in certain gastrointestinal and gynecological conditions.Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which is essential for the bacteria’s survival and multiplication. This action leads to the death of susceptible bacteria. However, some bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases, which can destroy Cefuroxime and render it ineffective.
To overcome this resistance, Clavulanic Acid is added as a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It neutralizes these bacterial enzymes, thereby protecting Cefuroxime from degradation and restoring its antibacterial potency. This combination ensures a broader and more reliable spectrum of activity against resistant pathogens.
