CEFAM-CV-250 is a combination antibiotic containing Cefuroxime (250 mg) and Clavulanic Acid, designed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections effectively. Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing the formation of their protective cell wall, an essential structure for their survival. Without this wall, the bacteria become vulnerable and die off, thereby controlling the infection.However, some bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases that can inactivate cefuroxime and reduce its effectiveness. This is where Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, plays a vital role. It blocks these enzymes, preventing the degradation of cefuroxime and allowing it to work efficiently. This combination greatly enhances the antibacterial spectrum and effectiveness of the medicine, especially against resistant strains of bacteria.
CEFAM-CV-250 is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections (such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and ENT infections. It helps relieve symptoms like fever, pain, inflammation, and pus discharge by eliminating the root cause – bacterial infection.
