Aniflose contains Lactulose, a synthetic sugar used primarily to treat constipation and manage hepatic encephalopathy, a complication of liver disease that affects brain function. Lactulose works by drawing water into the bowel, which softens the stool and stimulates bowel movements. It is especially helpful for people with chronic constipation who do not respond well to dietary changes or other laxatives.In hepatic encephalopathy, Lactulose helps reduce the absorption of ammonia from the gut. High levels of ammonia in the blood can occur due to liver dysfunction and lead to confusion, drowsiness, and even coma. Lactulose lowers ammonia levels by acidifying the colon contents, converting ammonia into ammonium which is less absorbable, and by increasing the number of bowel movements to help remove the toxin from the body.
Aniflose may also be used as a bowel cleanser before certain medical procedures or surgeries involving the intestines. It is available as an oral syrup and is usually taken once or twice daily, as directed by a physician.
Common side effects may include flatulence, bloating, and abdominal cramping, especially when starting the treatment. It is important to drink plenty of fluids while using Lactulose and to follow the prescribed dosage to avoid dehydration or electrolyte imbalance.
