AFEsan-R is a combination medicine that contains Aceclofenac and Rabeprazole, formulated to manage pain and inflammation while also protecting the stomach lining from potential irritation caused by painkillers.Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly prescribed to reduce pain and inflammation in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that are responsible for pain, swelling, and inflammation. It is also effective in managing pain caused by dental issues, sore throat, ear infections, lower back pain, and muscle sprains.
However, long-term use of NSAIDs like Aceclofenac may lead to gastric discomfort, acidity, or even ulcers. To counter this, Rabeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), is included in AFEsan-R. Rabeprazole works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach, thus preventing or minimizing NSAID-induced gastric irritation and related symptoms such as heartburn, indigestion, or stomach pain.
This dual-action formulation makes AFEsan-R especially useful for patients who need consistent pain relief but are also at risk of developing gastrointestinal side effects. It should be taken under medical supervision and ideally with food to enhance effectiveness and tolerability.
