AFYMOX-CLAV-FORTE is a potent combination of Amoxycillin (400 mg) and Clavulanic Acid (57 mg), formulated as a dry syrup for effective treatment of a broad range of bacterial infections. This antibiotic duo is particularly valuable in combating infections caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria, including certain strains responsible for tuberculosis.Amoxycillin, a penicillin-type antibiotic, works by disrupting the formation of bacterial cell walls, leading to bacterial death. However, some bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that break down amoxycillin, rendering it ineffective. To overcome this resistance, Clavulanic Acid is included in the formulation. It acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, neutralizing the enzyme and restoring the effectiveness of amoxycillin.
AFYMOX-CLAV-FORTE is commonly prescribed for treating various bacterial infections, including those of the ear, sinuses, throat, lungs (such as pneumonia), urinary tract, skin, teeth, joints, and bones. It is especially useful in infections where standard antibiotics fail due to bacterial resistance.
The syrup is typically administered to children and should be given with meals to enhance absorption and minimize stomach upset. Even if symptoms improve early, it is important to complete the full course of treatment to ensure the complete eradication of the bacteria and to prevent resistance from developing.
