ADPAX-625 is a powerful oral antibiotic formulation that combines Amoxycillin (500 mg) and Clavulanic Acid (125 mg). This combination is widely used to treat a variety of moderate to severe bacterial infections in adults and adolescents. Amoxycillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin-type antibiotic that kills bacteria by inhibiting the formation of their cell walls, which are essential for their survival.However, many bacteria develop resistance to amoxycillin by producing beta-lactamase enzymes, which break down the antibiotic and render it ineffective. To overcome this resistance, Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, is included in the formulation. It blocks the beta-lactamase enzymes, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of Amoxycillin against resistant bacterial strains.
ADPAX-625 is commonly prescribed for treating respiratory tract infections (like sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and dental infections. It provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, making it effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
The tablet is usually taken with food to enhance absorption and minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, or mild stomach discomfort. It is important to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed to avoid relapse and prevent antibiotic resistance.
