ADPAX-375 is an oral antibiotic formulation that combines Amoxycillin (250 mg) and Clavulanic Acid (125 mg), designed to effectively treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin-type antibiotic that works by preventing the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, ultimately causing the death of the bacteria. However, certain bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases, which can break down amoxycillin and make it ineffective.To counteract this resistance, Clavulanic Acid is included as a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It binds to the beta-lactamase enzymes and deactivates them, thereby restoring and enhancing the effectiveness of Amoxycillin even against resistant bacterial strains. This powerful combination makes ADPAX-375 a reliable option for treating bacterial infections that might not respond to Amoxycillin alone.
ADPAX-375 is commonly prescribed for infections of the respiratory tract (like sinusitis, tonsillitis, and bronchitis), urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, dental infections, and bone and joint infections. It should be taken with food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset.
Patients should follow the prescribed dosage strictly and complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve early, to ensure complete eradication of the bacteria and to prevent antibiotic resistance.
